REGISTRATION

When did the Church reopen?

Lygon Street Christian Chapel reopened on the 13 December 2020, and has been open, apart from 14 February 2021. For contract tracing registration is required.

We look forward to the day when all of us can again be present together worshipping our Lord Jesus and encouraging one another in Him without restriction!
But for now we are subject to ever-changing restrictions, one of which is the need to register for contract tracing purposes. You may have some questions, which we hope will be answered below. For any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out via email: info@lscc.org.au

How many people can attend?

There was a need to pre-register each Sunday. Due to changes in government regulations and requirements, commencing next Friday 2nd April 2021 (Good Friday service), we can no longer use Eventbrite and will be transitioning from using to the Victorian Government QR code system for contact tracing. This should be an improvement to your experience as there will no longer be the need to pre-book Eventbrite tickets for church services.

  • In keeping with the government requirements, there will be a maximum number of attendees LSCC can accommodate due to density quotient limitations.
  • However, with the relaxed COVIDSafe Summer density quotients, we anticipate we are able to accommodate the attendance of all who wish to attend.

How to check-in using the Victorian Government QR code:

  1. There will be multiple copies of the required QR code scattered around the welcome area for your convenience.

Do children contribute to the density quotients?
Children above the age of 1 will also contribute to the numbers for the density quotient limitations.

WHO SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT ATTEND

Can I attend the service? Who should not attend the service?

Please do NOT attend if you or anyone in your household are unwell (with a fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough, or any symptoms of COVID-19) or have been a close contact and required to isolate, or are awaiting results from being tested for COVID-19, or if you have recently returned in the last 14 days from travelling (overseas or interstate), as per government regulations. Please stay at home and join us on our livestream.

In line with government recommendations, those who fall within moderate to high risk groups are advised to exercise own judgement to avoid large gatherings.

If you are intending to carpool, please be aware of DHHS restrictions to carpooling if not from same household.

For more information, please refer to:

I have recently tested negative but am still showing flu-like symptoms. Can I attend the service?
For the general well-being of the public, we recommend that you stay at home until you have fully recovered.
In the event of a known case during a week I attended, what will the process be? Will I be notified?
If there is a COVID-19 case detected in someone who has attended the service, we will provide details to DHHS for contact tracing and you will be notified.

We adhere to the social distancing rules required by the government. Please follow the directions provided by the ushers and follow the signage on the walls (e.g. maximum persons in a room) and markings on the floor to maintain adequate social distancing (e.g. staying 1.5m apart).

Will I need to wear a face mask in church?

Face masks are now mandatory (as of 25/5/2021) for all persons above the age of 12.

This has been updated from the previous directive from the Victorian health authorities regarding face masks states:

  • You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.
  • It is recommended (now mandatory as of 25/5/2021) to wear a face mask when you cannot maintain 1.5 metres distance from other people.
  • Group singing is safest when wearing a face mask when singing indoors

If you don’t have a mask, please inform a member of the welcome team and they will be able to further assist.

Will singing be allowed in church?

The directive from the Victorian health authorities about singing states:

  • Singing is permitted
  • Group singing is safest with increased physical distancing, shorter performances, wearing a face mask when singing indoors, singing softly.

If you don’t have a mask, please inform a member of the welcome team and they will be able to further assist.

Will hand sanitisers be provided at church?
Multiples stations will be equipped with bottles of hand sanitiser. We encourage all attendees to use the hand sanitiser upon entry into the church premises.

Will there be communion?

Yes, but to reduce risk of contact transmission, we are not able to be serve communion centrally. Consider bringing your own communion bread/biscuit and drink. Single-use communion elements are available. Communion will be held only on a fortnightly basis.

This is because the directive from the Victorian health authorities is that no food, drink, crockery, utensils, vessels or other equipment is permitted to be shared by participants; although single use items from one person serving is permitted.

Will there be an opportunity for offering? How can I give?

There will be an option to give physically in church (the process will be announced during the the service) but we encourage you to continue to give electronically through the electronic banking details available in our weekly bulletin, the Friend.

Will there be Sunday School for my children?

Yes, Sunday School is running.

Sunday school for kinder-aged kids onwards will commence at the start of church service at 11 am and last the entire service duration. Parents should drop their kids off at the back hall and then make their way to the front hall for the service.

Sunday school class for the toddler group will only commence mid-service. Parents can drop their toddlers off for their classes immediately prior to sermon time.

Will the Live Streaming still be available?

Yes, we plan to continue live-streaming the service for the foreseeable future (which you can join via lscc.org.au/live or our  YouTube channel) as there may be some of us who are exploring church, overseas or not able to physically meet due to health safety and other appropriate personal reasons.
