Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came and lived on earth as foretold by God in the past.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came and lived on earth as foretold by God in the past.

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to Mary in Bethlehem. He is fully God and fully human.

He lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

He returned to heaven to be restored to His glory and to represent us before the Father.

Christianity: What It Means

After Jesus' death and resurrection, many people put their faith in Him as Messiah and became His followers—committing to obey His teachings. These disciples were first called Christians (Acts 11:26).

For those who have accepted Christ as Saviour and received His Spirit, God has adopted them to be His children—being restored in loving relationship with Him (Romans 8:14-16).

The Gospel: Why It Matters

God is the Creator

of everything, including every person.

Every person has sinned.

Sin is failing to meet God's perfect standard and rejecting Him from our lives. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

There is a penalty for sin.

Just as breaking a law brings punishment, sin brings consequences. The penalty for sin is a broken relationship with God resulting in both physical and spiritual death—ultimately eternal separation from a holy God.

We are helpless.

We cannot (and often do not even try to) make amends for our moral failure.

God took the initiative.

He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to become a man and die on the cross in order to take the punishment for our sins on our behalf.

The essence of the gospel:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

Your Response

Everyone needs to make a personal decision about believing in Jesus Christ. This is a life-and-death decision with eternal consequences.

However, this is not all there is to Christianity. This is only the beginning of a spiritual journey.
